Sweet Serenity Retreat Sooke, BC – September 2021
Simply put the Sweet Serenity Retreat is the type of place you must experience to fully understand. Set against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful west coast scenes you will ever find, this bed and breakfast offers calm, serenity and nature. Only a few minutes from Sooke BC and a half hour drive from Shirley, the Sweet Serenity Retreat is ideally located to explore the Island in the way only locals get to experience.
Check in, The Room and Attention to Detail
Check in couldn’t have been easier. We were greeted by our hosts Terry & Tanya who gave us the lay of the land and a walk through of the gorgeous space. From the beautiful welcome basket, which includes breakfast, snacks and treats to the BBQ, well equipped kitchen and high end furniture the place is the stunning. The bathroom and kitchen are equipped with Salt Spring Island soap, luxury towels and everything you could need for your time away from home.
Your private patio includes a BBQ, tons of seating options and a Chiminea for outdoor fires – which is perfectly set against the backdrop of the Juan De Fuca Strait & the Majestic Olympic Mountains.
What to Do
Obviously exploring the grounds is a great way to pass the time. We were able to spend time relaxing by the fire, having a lovely BBQ dinner out on the patio and generally enjoying the wildlife and relaxing atmosphere.
Where to Go
There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas. On our first day we took a ride into town where we enjoyed lunch at the Route 14 Sooke BC restaurant and a Gin tasting across the street at the Sheringham Distillery.
The next day we explored more of the nature in the area with a short drive to French Beach. The waves and scenic view at French Beach is truly breathtaking. There is a campsite on location with plenty of picnic tables, public washrooms, places for the kids to play and an abundance of shoreline to walk along.
Our second evening we visited a local favourite restaurant, Wild Mountain, known for their fresh local seafood and creative cuisine, the Wild Mountain did not disappoint.

Sweet Serenity Retreat is the perfect getaway location for a romantic weekend away or the definitive West Coast adventure. If you can visit you should. Enjoy and spread the word and experience Vancouver Island the way it was meant to be.
